These days you may want to visit an exhibition called ARTISTS RESPOND: UKRAINIAN ART AND THE ORANGE REVOLUTION which will take place at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art in Chicago. The exhibition shows the works of an informal group of art academy students or recent graduates who transformed the institute into a revolutionary workshop. It is, actually, is the protest for the government's alleged corruption, intimidation and wholesale electoral fraud which caused the Orange revolution in the Ukraine. That’s why it is filled with vivid, monumental, emotionally charged acrylic paintings on unstretched canvases, the colors often as hot as the feelings that fueled artsts: electric pinks and purples, vibrant greens and, of course, oceans of orange.
