Children’s Memorial Hospital has recently announced it’s plans of changing the place of location from Lincoln Park to the bigger facility in Streeterville. The hospital has outgrown it’s present-day site and was searching for a place to move. There were three variants of a new site: one in the same neighbourhood, other in the West Side Medical District and the third one in Streeterville. Eventually, the last variant was chosen. The relocation will take rather long, in fact - they're expected to break ground for the $750 million project in 2008. All in all, it will take 9 years to finish all the works. But the advantage is that the hospital will eventually have 343 beds, treating 12,000 patients a year, which is 3,000 more than it treats now.
