It has recently been announced that Chicago's Pump Room restaurant, which is in the Ambassador East Hotel at 1301 N. State Parkway , will be closed this summer and reopened at the beginning of autumn after some reconstruction works. The hotel was bought by Christopher Carley who is now going to make improvements “but preserve the wonderful character and beauty of the room”. The changes are a part of the whole Ambassador hotel renovation work, after which the hotel rooms will be sold to investors just like condominiums. The Pump Room menu are also to be changed. As Rick Tramonto, an executive chef at the ultra-expensive Tru restaurant said, there will be “an old-school steakhouse with some new twists to it”, though the prices won’t be as high as in Tru.
