Recently Chicagoans could prove themselves to be not as fat and lazy as part of the rest world thinks Americans to be. To do that, a group of extremely fit runners bounded up every single story of the John Hancock building last weekend. In total there turned out to be 97 flights of stairs – a real horror for the plump and unhealthy people. The event was organized by the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago and the winner got $850,000 for lung disease research – probably the thing useless for the weekend skyscraper-runner. The number of participants was 4,000. However, the results did not much vary from those of the last years' winners. This year's fastest man and woman clocked in at 9.35 and 11.1 minutes, respectively.
