As a result of water main break a section of Kennedy Expressway was flooded on Tuesday morning, November 29. The water rose up to four feet of in spots and caused traffic disruptions. Luckily, no homes or businesses have been affected but several motorists got stranded on the roadway and had to be rescued by Chicago firefighters. Water Department spokesman Tom LaPorte says traffic disruptions on the Kennedy, during the repair time, could consistent of lanes closures because of parked equipment needed to repair the break. However, despite the fact that works on a broken water main won’t be finished until week’s end, officials don't expect repairs to slow traffic this week.
