Unfortunately for many food lovers in Chicago, the Bergoff restaurant is to be closed after Feb. 28, representatives of the Berghoff family said Wednesday. This wonderful place, famous for it’s delicious food and especially for excellent German beer, will be sold to its past owners’ daughter Carlyn Berghoff, who will move her own catering business into it. They also said they sold her the restaurant's assets, everything from the tablecloths to the photos of old Chicago to the recipe for apple strudel. However, the beer will continue to be sold and the bar and café will be reopened. But the rest of the place will be devoted to Carlyn's catering firm, called Artistic Events, and to house private parties.
